Mudvayne

Mudvayne is an American metal band formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1996. It’s members include lead singer Chad Gray, guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan Martinie and drummer Matthew McDonough. The band first hit the mainstream in 2000, when they were featured on the second stage of the Tattoo the Earth Art and Music Festival Tour. They scored their first hit single with the song “Dig” from their debut album L.D. 50. They followed that success up with the release of their sophomore studio album entitled “The End of All Things to Come”. It was released in November of 2002 and peaked at number seventeen on the Billboard 200. Then on April 12, 2005 through Epic Records, Mudvayne released Lost and Found, their third studio album. The album debuted at number 2 and has since sold over eight hundred thousand copies. Their latest album, The New Game was released on November 18, 2008. The album debuted at #15 in the Billboard 200 with 48,000 copies in its first week. The New Game is also Mudvayne’s least succesful album and the only album to not have a gold or platinum status. Mudvayne has four gold certifications by the RIAA, and has sold nearly three million albums in the United States.

Secondhand Serenade

Secondhand Serenade was formed by John Joseph Vesely in Menlo Park, California in 2004. Secondhand Serenade released their debut album, Awake in 2005. The album was originally released as a demo, in 2005. In late 2006, Secondhand Serenade signed to label Glasstnote Records and re-released the album on January 10, 2007. The album was promoted through the Secondhand Serenade Myspace page and by playing local shows. The CD’s were originally sold through mail order with a PayPal account by Vesely, eventually he signed up with distributor TuneCore, making Secondhand Serenade’s songs available on music portals including iTunes. On February 19, 2008, Secondhand Serenade released their second studio album, A Twist in My Story. The album features the songs “Maybe” and “Your Call”, which are new versions of the songs from Awake produced with a band. The first single, “Fall for You” was released on January 21, 2008. The video premiered on TRL one week later. The album debuted at number 44 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 16,000 copies in its first week. The first single from the album “Fall for You”, was certified Platinum by RIAA. The title A Twist in My Story is a reference to Vesely’s 2008 divorce with his former wife Candice, with whom he has two young sons.

Kelis

Kelis is he stage name of Kelis Rogers. She was born on August 21, 1979 in Manhattan, New York City. As a child, she sang in church choirs and played violin, piano, and saxophone while attending Manhattan Country School, a private school. Kelis left home at age sixteen, but continued her education at age sixteen when she went to the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she formed the R&B trio BLU. After graduation, she formed a band with The Neptunes and, with their support, landed herself a record deal. In December of 1998, Kelis released her debut album Kaleidoscope. The album debuted at number number one hundred and forty-nine on the Billboard 200 and number twenty-three on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, selling 12,423 copies in its opening week. Then in 2001, Kelis released her second studio album, Wanderland. The album spawned only one single, “Young, Fresh n’ New”, which became Kelis’ third solo top forty hit in the United Kingdom. She has since released two more albums. Kelis over the course of her career has had nine top forty singles as a solo artist and, as a featured artist, has had six top forty singles to date. She has also won one BRIT Award and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards.

The Veronicas

The Veronicas was formed in 2005, in Brisbane, by twin sisters Jessica and Lisa Origliasso. In 2004, Lisa Origliasso and Jessica Origliasso were introduced to the Music Director of The Bell Hughes Music Group, Hayden Bell. After producing some demo recordings with the twins, Bell invited them to sign a publishing agreement with Excalibur Productions (a subsidiary of BHMG). To further develop their song writing skills, Bell connected them with internationally acclaimed songwriters and producers including Clif Magness, Billy Steinberg and Max Martin. Meetings were then arranged with Warner Bros. Records in the USA. Seymour Stein and senior executives recognized that Bell had indeed discovered and developed a musical talent, signing them quickly to a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records/Sire America. In 2005, The Veronicas released their debut album entitled “The Secret Life of… “. It reached #2 in Australia and also reached #5 in New Zealand and #3 in the Billboard Top Heatseekers. It has sold around 50,000 copies in the USA. The Veronicas then released their second album, Hook Me Up, in 2007. The singles released from the album were “Hook Me Up”, “Untouched”, “This Love”, “Take Me on the Floor” and “Popular”. The album nominated The Veronicas for three awards at the 2008 ARIA Awards including; “Highest Selling Album”, “Highest Selling Single” and “Best Pop Release”.
